Utmost Joy and Taking a Stand
What fully engages your body, mind and soul, and fulfills your heart’s desire?
One of the things for me is handling my emotions with wisdom and compassion, having that reflected in all of my relationships, living in alignment with my values and doing meaningful work.
Living my life in a way that reflects these values is a source of utmost joy.
In the last blog, I talked about dreams — and that there is no dream “too big” or “too small.” My suggestion was (and still is!) to have one; to stand for something on your behalf!
How do you want to feel when you look back over the life you’ve lived?
How you want to be, especially when someone or life throws you a curve ball?
Live in alignment with whatever your intention is! THAT can be living the dream!
I’m “all in” with that!
And then there was a curve ball. A family emergency. I couldn’t not be there. It was possibly a matter of life and death. Over and over again. I stopped everything, re-scheduled a dozen client calls and after waking at 3am and 12 hours of travel, was with family.
I thought I had taken a stand for the work I’m honored and privileged to do in the world, and asked if this trip was distracting me from what I “should” be doing. In an instant though, that focus shifted. I took a stand for family. And yes, it meant re-arranging many details in life and work.
It brought to mind another question and asked myself, “Is my business running my life?,” or “Am I running my business?” If my business is helping me serve a purpose in the world, and part of my purpose is to be there for my family, then this is what’s mine to do right now.
That means being with family is not distracting me from life. This is life right now.
I take a stand for family.
I take a stand for relationships that matter.
I take a stand for living in integrity. This is a source of the utmost joy.
